If want extreme micro RC airplanes, then this is the place to go get one. They come RTF (ready to fly) and there is a huge variety of RC airplanes to choose from.

As you all know there are hundreds of micro flying machines on the market. Especially in the RC helicopter industry. Like the Eflite Blade MCX or in the fixed wing industry, Parkzone's Sukhoi.

Both these cost a pretty penny. Which means if you crash alot, things can start becoming even more expensive. Also lets be honest with ourselves, everyone gets bored chasing the cat or buzzing the wife making dinner.

What won't become boring is you flying a micro RC Corsair and your wife( you wish ) or fellow RC 'er flying their micro RC Zero in a mock dogfight above your dining room table covered in a blue tablecloth representing the Pacific Ocean.

Now that would be fully sick!

The biggest fear flying a RC airplane is connecting it with the ground, for a RC car, its driving into another real car or into a pond. For a RC boat its becoming "dead in the water". Total loss of control of your RC boat can be the start of a very long and bad day.

As the saying goes "hope for the best, plan for the worst". It is guaranteed that this will happen to you, some time in your RC boating endeavors.

So here are a few Plan B's.

  • Retrieval boat - such as a kayak, or inflatable raft that is easy enough to carry around.
  • A RC retrieval boat - all you need is a cheap RC boat, that has a hook or some sort of pusher modification done to it. So you can push or pull your big dollar RC boat back.
  • Fishing rod with tennis ball - if you are a keen fisherman then this should not be a problem.
  • Mother nature - let the currents and wind do the work.

Let me know if you have any more tips and tricks!!!

You have seen a RC helicopter controlled by a iPhone. But have you seen a RC helicopter controlled by your voice??!!!

With this RC helicopter you can control the up and down motion with your voice by speaking into the transmitter via a earpiece. The only hiccup to this fully sick RC helicopter, is you need to know abit of Japanese/English combined.

You can still control the RC helicopter the old school way using the transmitter, but that defeats the fully sickness of this awesome RC helicopter.

Everyone loves jets, everyone would love to own a jet. A real one or even a RC one. Some lucky people have the cash and the guts to actually fly the turbine powered RC jets. Then again, some people actually fly the real deal.

For the rest of us, there is rcfoamfighters. RC jets made out of foam and powered by electric motors that can push them to a speed more than enough to keep you smiling and dreaming. The best thing about all this is YOU build it.

Then after that, you can give your RC jet a smoke trail using DIY smoke bombs or buy a smoke system from these guys.
Then start your very own RC Blue Angles display team.....

Here's a fully sick video, showing a eagle chasing a RC airplane which has a onboard camera on it. Some fully sick close up footage!!!

In times like this. The first things to go, is the stuff you spend you disposable income on. Like RC cars.
I have come up with a list of money saving ways, to hopefully keep your RC car on the road.
Please add to the list any other tips or tricks you may have.

  • Switch from 33% nitro to 22%. - it's cheaper and the loss in performance is minor. ( or buy a HPI Baja 5B SS, they use regular unleaded mixed with 2 stroke oil. Also your lawn mower uses the same mix. So you save even more )
  • Use rechargeable batteries - bite the bullet and get yourself a descent set of batteries and charger.
  • Go brushless - brushless motors should last forever ( in theory ) Which means no more replacing brushes.
  • Get a Lipo balancer - you should always charge Lipos with a balancer for safety sake and keeps them in top condition.
  • Use harder compound tyres - if you are the casual basher, you won't even notice the difference.
  • Use servo savers - servos can be very expensive.
  • Don't skip on quality - you get what you pay for, so if that expensive cover protects your performance exhaust from rollovers. It's worth the extra buck.
  • Be brand loyal - nine times outta ten the manufactures use the same parts between buggy's and truggy's. Like suspension towers. Check out who's who in the industry.
  • Buy the popular RC cars at your local hobby shop - this means you have a better chance they will stock spares and know what they are talking about.
  • Most important one is Maintenance - cleaning, oiling and doing a once over every know and then will help stop a chain reaction in spare parts. For example, your wheel hub cracked, you didn't notice. Two minutes into the next bash session, bang. The wheel hub split open. Expensive bearings lost and bent turnbuckle is the result. Time and big dollars down the drain. Good maintenance equals good performance and less head and heart ache!
Hope these money saving tips helped, let us know if you have anymore. Happy bashing!

Have you ever heard of Masami Hirosaka? You should have, especially if you are into RC cars. He is probably one of the best RC drivers of all time and the best paid. Lucky B@$%!@#d!!!!

Here is a video of him showing off his fully sick RC driving skills doing a perfect parallel drift parking!!! ( video is in Japanese, but you don't need commentary to see these RC skills, do yay! )

I think I may have a possible addiction towards RC. Like these guy's. Not any RC, but HPI Baja 5B RC cars.

You wouldn't believe it, but I got other RC car off eBay. A local pick-up this time, which meant instant bashing!!
That's it on the right! Still looking clean, but not for long....

My brother really enjoyed the first Baja I got. So he brought that one off me. Which resulted in me getting a HPI Baja 5B SS!!! The SS at the end, really means bigger motor. A 26cc compared to the 5B's little 23cc. Doesn't sound much in capacity but man, it sure sounds and go's faster than my brother's 5B and that's all that counts!!!!

Will get some video up soon......

Do You feel a little ambitious and violent?? You better, because I have found a "fully sick" weekend project for you to do.
It involves a RC robot/car with a Nerf gun attached to it, with laser sighting capabilities and a wireless camera too. What's even better is the inbuilt Ipod speakers. Those are for physiological warfare according to the maker....

Good Luck!!!

I have just come back from my first bash session with my eBay special, HPI Baja 5B RC car. All I can say is......fully sick, dude.

First off, it is quite intimidating at first. Big car and big speed coming at you fast, makes you hope you don't get a glitch and take your legs off with it.

What I like even better about this RC car is there are no batteries to charge ( besides the one that powers the servos and stuff ). That means 40 plus minutes of run time. It lasts forever, and that can result in getting a bit bored.... But that what inspires you to come up with ramps and put the natural environment to good use. It's amazing what a good shovel will do!

Stay tuned for my next bashing session!!!

If you missed the Futaba XFC airshow where the best pilots fly fully sick giant scale RC airplanes and RC helicopters.
Then subscribe to this Channel for all the action!

I have just received the long awaited package from the postman. Containing my HPI Baja 5B RC car. That I won off ebay.

So...first impressions. This thing is big, heavy and tough looking with all those aluminum parts showing themselves under the body. The previous owner seemed to have done a fair amount of bashing with it. Let's just say it has plenty of "character markings" in all the usual places.

I got my RC car late in the day so I could not take it for a burn. But I did manage to start it up after a couple of pulls. Sounds fully sick, especially with the massive after market exhaust strapped to it.

So know I just gotta charge up the receiver battery that powers the servos. Mix some fuel. Then it's time for a serious bashing session!

It seems every Tom,Dick and Harry is starting some sort of UAV ( unmanned aerial vehicle ) related company, that's promising beautiful image quality and reliability etc. Which is a good thing. What's even better is it allows wannabe fighter jocks, like me to possibly fly armed UAV's in places like Iraq or Afghanistan in the comfort of America.

For those who don't want to fly multimillion dollar armed UAV's. There is always the humble RC UAV to fly. Throw in a bit of GPS technology, some money and presto! You can have your very own UAV buzzing around your field taking video and pictures while you have a beer.

There is loads of information regarding this rapidly growing area of RC. The best sites to check out are RCGroups and DIYdrones.

Anyone living or working in a multi-floored building. Has had to have the urge to make a paper airplane and toss it out the window and see how far it would go. But those of you who want more from your paper airplane hobby.

Check out these fully sick free down loadable plans. That you print out, cut out and then use a little tape, can make in minutes. What's even better is the choice of airplanes and jets you can download. Turning your desk drawer into your very own Edwards Air Force base.

Imagine, after crashing your RC airplane or RC car, breaking the landing gear or breaking the suspension bracket in your RC car. Going to a 3D printer that's in your garage, scanning the broken bit. Then printing out a brand new one in a few hours and then back to flying or bashing.

This technology has been around for years. But only now is it becoming affordable for the serious enthusiast. Even though plastic/foam can only be printed to shape, you can still print out mounds for metal parts.
This kind of technology opens upon huge potential in the "hack industry" or the RC'er that just wants to make a custom body or new wheel design for his RC drifter.
This means we/I could design my own airplane or airplane parts like ducted fan blades. Then sell them, competing with other RC designers and the big manufactures. Forcing big manufacturers to make products with better quality and a lot cheaper. Resulting in a move innovative, cheaper hobby industry to get into.
I mean who doesn't like cheap quality fun??

If you are into Giant RC airplanes, being flown by extreme pilot's, that do fully sick stuff with them.
Then this is the place to be.

For those you can't get there like me. There is the Flying Giants forum that will be streaming live the whole airshow. So grab a beer and dream about owning a RC airplane like that or at least being able to fly like that. I am!!!

The ugly side of flying/owning my F-35 EDF RC jet eventually happened. It wasn't pilot error for a change but the cheapo ESC and motor. That survived a lot longer than I thought, I might add. The culprit was the ESC I am pretty sure.

What happened was I plugged in my fully charged LiPo, ready for another fully sick flight. But...the ESC started making funny sounds and would not "arm". Servos worked but I had no throttle management. Unplugged, replugged few times to try and reset it. In till at about 50% throttlesetting the motor worked but sounded rough and started pulsing. One more flight???

I was desperate for a flight. There was not a breath of wind and I felt abit adventurous. So I launched it into the blue sky. Flew around at full throttle, did a few barrel rolls. Then silence...no more motor....no worries I''ll just glide in.....but then no more control. I was lucky it was low and it's made of foam. It crashed into a fence breaking a aileron and denting the wing badly and the intake scopes. Nothing abit of epoxy didn't fix. When I retrieved the RC jet the motor was boiling and so was the ESC. Mmmmmm......

I brought a new 30amp ESC to see if the motor was OK, but nothing. The 3800kv cheapo brushless motor is officially dead. My local hobby shop didn't have any motors to my KV rating, so I found one on a online hobby shop that sells EDF stuff. Will have to wait for it but this one is 4200KV rating, so a worth while wait. Will let you know how this performs.
Stay tuned!

My new RC car, the fully sick HPI Baja 5B is not really brand new. I won it on eBay and I should have it by next week sometime. According to the eBay listing it has a race ported 23cc and a jetpro exhaust. I just hope it hasn't been bashed too hard, because I want to do the hardcore bashing to it.

These things are fully sick and have a huge devout following that take this 1/5 scale RC car seriously and to other level in customization and performance. It seems you need/have too, take out a second mortgage to put on the nice shiny aluminum parts and race ported engines just to be a true hardcore Baja basher.

First thing I am going to do though, is get a pair of sand paddle tires so I can rip up my local beach and sand dunes then a nice chrome exhaust, then a ..... and a ...... The Baja bug has bitten me already!!! Need to refinance my house!!!

Can't wait for mine!!!

If you're into Radio Control forums such as RCGroups, RC Universe or FlyingGiants, notably in the RC airplane category's, you would have or should of seen a video about a full scale aerobatic airplane flying, when all of a sudden a wing breaks off and the pilot lands it safely.
This video caused the forums to go wild and then pretty much the online world followed. It eventually came out that it was a hoax, which is pretty obvious if you fly airplane's.

But the guy who owns RCGroups and develops RC flight simulators actually pulled it off for real. With a RC airplane of course. It proves though it could be done but I wouldn't want to be the test pilot.

This RC video turned viral and has know attracted big name media. Like Discovery Channel, that wants him to test his fully sick skills again.

The good news for this weekend is I managed 6 successful flights after I had sorted out the "sucking in the wire incident".

My verdict for this RC jet is.... it is NOT a beginner EDF, way to fast and to small ( not saying I'm pro ). But it looks fully sick in the air. Has a awesome profile and flies like it's on rails. Once you have it trimmed out. Remember to dial down your throws on your servos. Trust me, there is alot of moving surface's for this little RC jet.
I did crank mine up abit and wow, it can do a huge amount of barrel rolls in a very short amount of time.
What's even better are the landing's. It glides in beautifully, a little fast but that's EDF for ya. To really slow up when low to the ground. Pull up quick and RC jet will do a little high alpha maneuver and stall. It's fully sick!
Overall I love this RC jet, even though it's not the best one as an introduction to the world of EDF. But if you check your trim, decrease your throws and check the C.G (centre od gravity). It should be fine and you'll be hooked, Like me.

But like the saying goes " all good things must come to an end " happened......but thank the RC Gods it happened on the ground, until I risked it for one more flight.
Report in the next post.

Also did anyone go to this, would love to know.

I am going to start a Weekend Project series. That will get me and yourself to build, learn, inspire or just admire something Radio Controlled that is fully sick.

This series is going to be about the world of "foamie" scratchbuilts.
RC airplane's that are built out of depron, EPP, fanfold anything that is light, cheap and glueable. "Foamies" have become huge in the RC world. Manufacturers make their airplanes out of them and some hobby shops only sell "foamie" related stuff.
Why? because it's cheap to buy or make, easy to fix and you only need cheap electronics to fly them. What's even better about them is, who dosen't like flying something they designed and built or built from the hundreds of plan's like minded RC enthusiats have stuck on the Internet. I do, because I built and flew successfully one of the greatest beginner RC foamies ever designed.

The Blu-baby Trainer. This has to be the most widely built and flown foam RC airplane ever. It has taught alot of people how to fly and how to build foam airplanes.
The information about and modifications done to this foamie are endless, resulting in one of the biggest threads ever on RCGroups.
So find some foam, a good setup for your propulsion system, download the free plans and go create something Fully Sick!!!

With the sad loss of the Air France A330, crashing into the Atlantic hundreds of miles from nowhere. It's now up to the investigators and RC submarines or ROV's to find the pieces and determine what went wrong.

The aim of the RC submarines or technically speaking ROV's (remotely operated vehicles) is to find the Black Box that records everything the pilots say and the airplanes vital readings. Which is somewhere deep deep down in the Atlantic, that makes it too expensive and dangerous for a humble human to go.

Yet again, RC is answering the call. Making our lives easier, safer and happier.

Want to get into really big RC cars? Not those little 1/10 scale or those micro 1/18 scale but 1/5 scale. That probably have more torque and speed (and probably more street cred) than GM's new Volt.

Well this guy, squirrelod has started a video series on how to tune your motor, costs involved, upgrades and general tips and advice to get into the world of big RC cars. Enjoy!

What's the ultimate RC collection?? I don't know. But there are RC'ers out there that sure have a heap of fully sick RC stuff. Some have lots of planes or cars, others lot's of "everything RC" tucked away in there "my stuff" room.
Others prefer to go the quality not quantity way, such as these guy's with their RC turbine jet's. That cost a pretty penny.

This is the beauty of democracy and capitalism. To have abit of disposable income and spend it on fully sick stuff that brings a simile to your face. That's a privilege!

The maiden flight of my RC F-35 EDF jet was short and sweet. Sweet, meaning I had a safe landing when all of a sudden the EDF unit cut out. Thank the RC gods, I had some height to line up for a descent landing.
First thought when I took a closer inspection of the F-35, was the cheapo battery that comes with it, can't hold a decent charge. I used the cheapo one because if I did crash I didn't want to puncture one of my better LiPo batteries.
BUT..... upon even closer inspection in my "RC domain/shed" I realized the wire that goes from your ESC to your receiver to provide power to your servos had been SUCKED UP by the EDF unit. Resulting in the wire being cut in half. Resulting in unsuspecting loss of power.
It could of been alot worse though. The wire could have actually been wound up by the blades thus sucking up the whole ESC and spitting it out the other end with a busted up EDF unit and TOTAL loss of control of the RC jet. I have heard of this happening.
Anyway, the short time I did fly my RC Jet I realized that it is pretty fast for a EDF virgin, really sensitive on the roll but otherwise fly's like it's on rails. Just need to fix this slight mishap and I'll be back!!!!

Next time, a flight report that hopefully will last more than 30 seconds.
